High Performance
street engines are built far better
than the factory, with more power using today's gasoline. Stage 1
Ported Iron heads, hydraulic lifters, aluminum intake and Performer
carburetor.
Street Viper hydraulic lifter
engines use only name brand rotating assemblies that are precision
balanced, Stage 3 Ported Aluminum heads, Victor Intakes, Diamondback
Carburetors, CSR billet, and SFI balancers.
Diamondback Engines
Short Blocks
are precision assembled by a Master Engine Builder from Top Shelf
name brand parts. We refused to sell motors assembled from "Catch of
the Day" parts. All short blocks are internally balanced.
At Diamondback Engines, we build a range of Mopar engines for the for the Muscle car owner wanting a more powerful than factory motor running on today's gasoline -- all the way to the professional drag and circle track racers. Each motor is precision engineered, machined, assembled, and tuned by a Master Engine builder -- one at a time in our shop. We can typically deliver had an engine ready for delivery within four weeks of the order. We offer five engines categories.
High Performance Street: While both more dependable and more powerful than what was delivered from the factory, these engines offer a smooth idle and good vacuum on today's lower octane fuels. The reconditioned blocks are precision machined, the rotating balanced, and the irons heads receive a Stage I porting. This category of engines have a hydraulic cam for ease of operation and roller rocker assembly for less friction. All parts used are at least as good as original -- and most are better. This is the perfect motor with a factory appearance to replace the tired motor in your Mopar Muscle car with the responsive motor your car deserves.
Street Viper: This is a pump gas street/strip motor for the muscle car owner looking to win in the stop light wars. The heads are aluminum, cam is hydraulic, the rotating is name brand rotating forged, SFI balancer, and a custom built 4150 carburetor -- tuned specifically for that motor. These motors are easily identified as being the best Mopar street motor by their Diamondback black powder coated fabricated valve covers and carburetor.
Bracket Race: This class of race motor is built for consistency and dependability. With proper maintenance it should last for years of consistent passes. The rotating is forged and balanced, the iron heads receive a Stage II porting, and the 4150 carburetor is custom built and tuned to the motor. Valve covers are fabricated aluminum. It is a solid lifter cammed motor with the RPM band in the 3800 to 5800 range that burns 104-110 octane gas -- depending on the displacement. The perfect motor for weekend racer on a budget.
Pit Viper Race: This motor is for the racer wanting a high compression / high revving motor to power his car to the stripe in the shortest amount of time. Aluminum heads, top shelf balanced rotating, solid ROLLER lifter, MSD distributor, Diamondback fabricated aluminum valve covers powder coated black, and 950 CFM 4150s or Dominators (depending on displacement) custom tuned to the motor. These engines have a higher RPM band. These engines use 112-114 octane race fuel.
Pump Gas Race: These pump gas race motors have as much power as 93 octane race motor can. Aluminum heads, top shelf balanced rotating, solid ROLLER lifter, MSD distributor, Diamondback fabricated aluminum valve covers powder coated black, and 950 CFM 4150s or Dominators (depending on displacement) custom tuned to the motor. These engines have a higher RPM band.
Custom Built to Your Specifications: Diamondback will also build Mopar street and race engines to your specifications. Street or race engines for blowers, NOS, circle track, road course, restorations or any other need. We can also perform your end of season freshen ups.
Diamondback Engines also assembles precision short blocks for street or race.
Finally, Diamondback Engines custom builds carburetors specifically for your car. No one builds a better race carburetor. 4150s, Dominators and AFBs built to get the most out of your car and engine.

Custom Carburetors
Custom Race Carburetors
While Diamondback Engines is mainly known for its Race Engines -- many do not realize that we also build the best racing carburetors. How much is 2/10 of a second worth to you? Many racers have a killer motor, but slap an out of a box carburetor on top of it. That's like a Golden Glove baseball player with a $2 arm! Too many racers are leaving a lot of speed on the table with a poorly built carburetor.
In the sidebar to the left -- you will find links with more specific details. Give us the call, and we will build a custom carburetor for your car and your racing class. It is not unusual for racers to pick up 2/10 of a second and more. Diamondback Engines builds custom carburetors for gas or alky; for drag or dirt track racers; 4150, Dominator, or AFB; and for automatics or sticks.
Short Blocks To Go
Short Blocks To Go

Get a head
start on your engine build by ordering a 'Short Block To Go'. Each 'Short Block
To Go' starts off with a select Mopar factory block that has been sonic tested
and fully machined to precision High Performance Street or Race standards. The
.020 and .030 blocks are used for the race 'Short Blocks To Go', while the .040
and .060 are used for High Performance Street. The rotating is balanced and
crank micro-polished with precision, and then close tolerance fitted at the
proper torque in the block.
Finish the
'Short Block To Go' with your choice of cam, heads, intake, carburetor, and
other components.
Short
blocks include:

Or any
other class requiring an AFB carburetor. Here's Your Advantage
Diamondback 800 AFB Powder Coated in Black
One of the limitations of running a Mopar Wedge Motor in
Nostalgia Super Stock (NSS) is that your carburetors have to be of the AFB
design, and no larger than 850 CFM. Most of the original Super Stockers never
learned how to turn this disadvantage into their advantage -- but a few of the
best ones did. Damon was taught much of what he incorporates into the
Diamondback AFBs by a pretty famous S/S racer from the 60s/70s -- and then he
improved on that foundation. While you will immediately recognize the mill work
to remove the choke horn and to make it breathe better -- there are quite a few
unseen tricks that make these the choice of the faster NSS cars required to run
AFBs.
We start with a brand new Edelbrock Performer AFB 800CFM
carburetor, disassemble, mill, and reassemble with tricks geared towards the
8.50-10.0 second racecar. Automatic and manual transmissions require a very
different AFB carburetor -- so we make a DIA-800AFB-A for the automatic
transmission cars and a DIA-800AFB-M for the manual transmission cars.
The below are four cars that you might recognize, which
are running a pair of the Diamondback AFBs
